Video: UWC South Campus Education Precinct

The University of the Western Cape South Campus Education Precinct is now complete! Watch the video below.

The outcome of a strategic brief development project for the education faculty of the University of the Western Cape was for the development of the South Campus Education Precinct Project where the faculty was to be relocated to buildings vacated by Chemical Sciences and Computational Sciences when they occupied new buildings, These buildings were built in 1990 and had been empty for some time, with vandalism, theft and water ingress leading to severe deterioration of the building structure .

A full condition assessment was carried out and full refurbishment was carried out with alterations and additions to suit the requirements of the education faculty.

Design, coordination and implementation were carried out collaboratively between GAPP (on overall design, building fabric/structure, facades and first fix services) and Pure Design Interior Architects (responsible for interior layout, final fix services and finishes).

The project was completed in 2 Sections, with FF&E fitout by PDI following completion of construction. Section 1 with full FF&E fitout and Section 2 construction were complete in September 2022.
